Role description
The Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team is a project managementand execution team that manages construction activity within theoperational data center spaces. The CPI team is tasked with criticalinfrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space,power, and cooling within operation data centers around the globe. Theseactivities are outside of the scope of standard construction deliveryand regular preventative maintenance tasks. We are currently seeking a Data Center Projects Engineer to serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers in the EU. Position will be based in Frankfurt, Germany and will involve travel to support projects across the EU.You will be part of a highly creative,efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challengesin designing, building, and operating Amazon data facilities. TheProject Manager is ultimately responsible for project oversight andreview of all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, controls,and architectural. A fundamental understanding of these systems isrequired, as the individual will be expected to identify areas forimprovement as well as act on data provided from other team andorganizations. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to design,develop and deploy innovative solutions to address operationalchallenges. This role requires both independent contribution as well asthe ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams. The scope ofprojects will include but not limited to the improvement of electrical,mechanical, fire detection and building automation system. The ProjectManager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination,implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projectsensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.Ifyou are passionate about the Customer Experience; you think big; and youwant to contribute to the operational excellence of Amazon data centersthen this may be the challenge you’ve been looking for!Responsibilities include: Project management and oversight ofconstruction related activities as they relate to modifying existinginfrastructure for the purpose of installing new or to replace end oflife equipment. This will include the ownership of the project scope,timeline, and budget. - Provide project management for specificinitiatives aimed at increasing the resiliency of our data centers. -Electrical design and review of designs associated with the optimizationof existing data centers. - Construction/project package drawingreview. - Creation of project scope, request for proposals, and capitalrequests. - Total project quality including the creation of acommissioning plan and oversight of the execution. - Recording andreporting key metrics to team members and management. - Operationalsupport including review of procedures, best practices, and maintenanceinitiatives. - Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root causefailure analysis associated with equipment or electrical failures. -Work with contractors and vendors to deliver efficient and high qualityproject turnovers. - Be a leader within the group as well as withininternal and external teams that support the data center.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor‘s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field- Experience in vendor management
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment
- Experience in data center engineering or operations
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
