What You ll Do
As a
Veterinary Technician - General Practice
at Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital, you will be an essential part of our team. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting veterinarians with routine general practice procedures: exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, venipuncture, and catheter placement
Support with patient intake, client communication, and education on treatments
Preparing patients for appointments, including reviewing and interpreting bloodwork, medical history, and diagnostics
Administering and monitoring medications, ensuring safe and accurate patient care
Communicating effectively and empathetically with clients during consultations, discharges, and follow-up updates
Maintaining accurate patient records and supporting seamless case management
Collaborating closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians to ensure comprehensive patient care
Supporting other hospital teams as needed once duties are complete

Anticipated Schedule
This is a
full-time position
with the following schedule:
Four 10-hour shifts with one weekend day/week
Compensation
Starting
at $18.00/hour, commensurate with experience and licensure

What We re Looking For
We re seeking Veterinary Technicians who thrive when caring for animals, solving problems under pressure, and working collaboratively. Our ideal candidate has:
CVT/LVT/RVT licensure
preferred
Solid understanding
of veterinary medical terminology, medications, and disease processes
Strong
communication skills
for client education and team collaboration
Ability
to prioritize, stay organized, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
