This role plays a critical part in onboarding and training personnel supporting a
24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC)
and requires someone who is both operationally grounded and highly organized, with deep experience using
Smartsheet
to manage training workflows, documentation, and reporting.

Job Summary
The Training Security Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering onboarding and ongoing training programs for Security Officers, SOC personnel, Supervisors, and other assigned employees. This role ensures all training is compliant with regulatory, contractual, and company standards and is delivered in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment.
A core component of this role is the
design, execution, and tracking of training programs using Smartsheet
, supporting structured onboarding, compliance tracking, and performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead onboarding and training initiatives for personnel supporting a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment
Partner with operations and site leadership to establish training objectives and readiness standards
Ensure compliance with all legally mandated, contractually required, and company-required training
Maintain accurate documentation supporting training requirements outlined in service contracts
Conduct training needs assessments to identify operational gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities
Develop and manage training plans, schedules, and workflows using
Smartsheet
, including dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools
Coordinate training activities to ensure no disruption to 24/7 operational coverage
Deliver training through a variety of methods, including classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, simulations, role-playing, and computer-based learning
Create and maintain training materials, manuals, assessments, and evaluation tools
Train and coach supervisors and designated trainers on onboarding processes and effective training delivery
Track trainee progress, certification completion, and compliance metrics; prepare reports for leadership review
Support continuous improvement of onboarding and training processes
Perform additional duties of a similar nature as required

Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience supporting training and onboarding in a
security, operations, or SOC-type environment
Extensive hands-on experience with Smartsheet
(required), including building workflows, dashboards, trackers, and reports
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple onboarding classes and training timelines simultaneously
Compliance-driven and detail-oriented, with excellent documentation practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels
Proven ability to support employee engagement and retention through effective training
Education & Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of training or instructional experience
OR
Associate’s degree with 3 years of progressively responsible related experience
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the role
Relevant experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis
