As a Senior Software Engineer on our Runtime Encryption team,you'llhelp shape the future of confidential computing by developing the tools, SDKs, and platform capabilities that enable secure execution environments.You'llwork across the software stack—from applications and runtimes down to the operating system and hardware layers—while collaborating with a team of engineers pushing the boundaries of data protection.
This role offers the chance to work oncutting-edgetechnologies that protect data in use, at rest, and in transit, while contributing to products used by organizations around the world to secure their most critical workloads.
Location
We strongly prefer candidates who are within commuting distance of our Eindhoven, Netherlands office and are excited to work in a hybrid environment. For exceptional candidates with deep domainexpertisein confidential computing, systems security, or low-level software engineering, remote work may be considered.
What you’ll do (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Develop tools and SDKs for confidential computing platforms.
- Support other teams withinFortanixto use tools related to confidential computing platforms developed internally
- Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions that meet security and performance standards.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues spanning application, runtime, kernel, and platform layers.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in security and confidential computing.
- Conduct code reviews, ensure best practices in software development, andmaintainhigh standardsof code quality.
- Drive the adoption of new tools, methodologies, and processes to improve development efficiency and product quality.
What you’ll need (Basic Qualifications)
- A passion for systems programming and low-level software development, particularly in x86-based environments.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and an appreciation for modern programming languages and abstractions, particularly Rust.
- Solidunderstanding of Linux kernel and operating system fundamentals.
- A desire to work within a small, highly collaborative team and help grow its technicalexpertiseand impact.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience with C/C++ or Rust
- Bachelor orMaster in Computer Science, Information Security or related field
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Strong communicationand interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts.
Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise
- Experience with trusted execution environments or confidential computing technologies.
- Knowledge of rustcompiler, virtualization, or cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with low-level security concepts, attack mitigations, and secure systems design, along with a desire to deepenexpertisein these areas.
- Knowledge of software development tools and methodologies, including CI/CD, Agile, and DevOps.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
