The Opportunity:
HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital , located in Fort Pierce, near the Vero Beach area, is a 380-bed acute care hospital offering a full range of services. The facility includes seven labor/delivery/recovery suites and an operating room and provides the only level II trauma center and level III NICU in the area. A board-certified neonatologist is on-site 24/7 and all RNs on staff are certified in neonatal resuscitation. Expectant mothers and their partners can take a variety of classes through the hospital‘s maternity services, including childbirth education, breastfeeding, and safe infant care. Lawnwood has received numerous recognitions from Healthgrades, including Five-Star Awards for vaginal delivery, C-section delivery and hysterectomy, and the 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award™.
Fort Pierce , known as the Sunrise City, has been the hub of St. Lucie County for more than 100 years. Sitting on Florida‘s beautiful Treasure Coast, the city is named after the famed sinking of a Spanish treasure fleet in 1715. This opportunity involves working collaboratively with local obstetricians to ensure that every pregnant woman who presents to the hospital is cared for by an experienced physician every time. A day in the life includes:
Caring for all pregnant women who present emergent, regardless of circumstance
Cultivating relationships with staff nurses and hospital personnel
Supporting private practice physicians by providing coverage and assistance
Caring for unassigned patients
Evaluating and treating triage patients
Providing consultation to the ED
Monitoring labor
Delivering babies
Performing surgery and surgical assists
Evaluating and treating postpartum patients
Providing nurse support and education
