As Digital & E&A Engineering Manager, you will lead the electrical, automation and digital transformation of a brand-new manufacturing facility, helping to deliver a true Industry 4.0 lighthouse factory.

For one of our international clients in the health and nutrition industry, we are looking for an experienced Digital & E&A Engineering Manager to join a landmark greenfield project in Almere, the Netherlands.
This is far more than a traditional Electrical & Automation role.
As Digital & E&A Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the complete Electrical, Automation and Digital scope of a strategic greenfield investment. Working as part of the Engineering Leadership Team, you will define the automation architecture, electrical infrastructure and digital roadmap that will enable a world‑class manufacturing operation.
From concept design through commissioning and start‑up, you will ensure seamless integration of electrical systems, PLCs, SCADA, MES and digital manufacturing solutions while enabling full process traceability and data‑driven decision making.
Working closely with Engineering, Operations, IT, Digital, Quality, Procurement and external system integrators, you will play a leading role in delivering a state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility.
Your Responsibilities
As Digital & E&A Engineering Manager, you will;
- Take full ownership of the Electrical & Automation scope within a large-scale greenfield manufacturing project;
- Lead the design and implementation of advanced electrical and automation systems;
- Develop and execute the digitalization roadmap, including smart factory initiatives and Industry 4.0 solutions;
- Define automation architecture including PLC, SCADA, MES and Manufacturing Data Operations (DMO);
- Ensure seamless integration between shopfloor systems, production equipment and enterprise data platforms;
- Design robust electrical infrastructure including power distribution, industrial networks and energy management systems;
- Lead supplier selection, technical evaluations and contractor management for E&A packages;
- Manage project scope, planning, budget and technical deliverables;
- Ensure machinery safety by design through risk assessments and implementation of international safety standards;
- Oversee installation, testing, commissioning and start‑up of electrical and automation systems;
- Ensure compliance with corporate engineering standards, local regulations and safety requirements;
- Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle;
- Drive standardization, scalability and future‑ready engineering solutions;
- Enable data‑driven manufacturing through reliable automation and digital integration.

What You Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline;
- 8–12+ years of experience in Electrical and Automation Engineering within industrial manufacturing environments;
- Proven experience delivering capital investment projects from concept through commissioning and start‑up;
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems including PLC, SCADA and MES;
- Hands‑on experience with industrial electrical systems, power distribution, control panels and industrial networks;
- Experience with digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and smart factory initiatives;
- Familiarity with traceability systems and end‑to‑end data integration between production systems and digital platforms;
- Knowledge of machinery safety standards such as ISO 13849 and IEC 62061;
- Understanding of industrial cybersecurity principles is considered an advantage;
- Experience within FMCG, food, pharmaceutical or other highly regulated manufacturing industries;
- Experience working with EPC contractors, automation integrators and international equipment suppliers;
- Financial awareness including budget management and cost control;
- Experience with SAP and project management tools is considered a plus;
- Strong analytical, organizational and stakeholder management skills;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams;
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
