Role description
Overview
Senior Elastic Security & Observability Engineer role focused on developing observability solutions for application and infrastructure administrators/developers. The work involves end-to-end data collection from common data sources, efficient storage in Elasticsearch, presenting information to users, and turning raw data into actionable insights. The role may include UI and API work in Kibana for observability users, collaboration with the UI team and product management to deliver high-quality, intuitive UI’s and robust APIs, and contributing to IT operations data analytics and automation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Work on UIs and APIs in Kibana for observability users; collaborate with the UI team and product management to build intuitive, innovative UI’s and robust APIs.
- Develop IT operations data analytics and translate insights into (Elastic) Rules to support IT operations.
- Assist in automating deployment of the IT Operations product suite using Ansible (zero-touch deployment).
- Implement Security modules within Elastic and analyze data against SIEM rules to detect activity and enhance security.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to develop automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience with all aspects of Elastic (Observability, Monitoring, Analytics, Security, ML, Data Ingest, Indexing).
- Programming skills in JavaScript, JSON, Python, and YAML.
- Experience with a modern MVC-style JavaScript framework.
- Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and in a team; experience building intuitive user interfaces and REST APIs.
Additional technical competencies
- Out of the Box thinking; eager to learn new technologies and methods.
- Experience with React and/or TypeScript; experience with Node.js; experience writing automated tests.
- Knowledge of other Observability, Security, Performance or Availability tools/services; familiarity with StackState, Dynatrace/SUSE Observability, and IT Open Data Pipelines.
Working location and requirements
Hybrid work arrangement: several days per week at a client location in the central region, some days at the Kyndryl Netherlands headquarters in Hoofddorp, and some days from home. To work for Defensie, you must hold Dutch nationality and a Dutch passport and be able to speak and write Dutch.
The Kyndryl Netherlands headquarters is located in the sustainable Pharos building in Hoofddorp. The Kyndryl Social Club organizes informal and inspiring activities.
