About CarbonSquare

CarbonSquare is a climate tech startup, human-centered and AI-powered. We are dedicated to helping small and growing businesses measure and reduce their carbon footprint. Our platform converts invoices and transactions into clear, actionable insights, bridging compliance standards like GHG Protocol with straightforward carbon accounting. We are an ambitious, innovation-driven, agile team and our primary focus is delivering accurate and user-friendly carbon measurement solutions to empower businesses in their sustainability journey.

Right now we’re building our first MVP: not a power plant, just a simple, working system that can go live with real clients.

We’re looking for someone curious, practical, and excited to build scrappy prototypes with no‑code automation tools. At this stage, we don’t need a full‑stack engineer with 20 years of experience; we’d rather work with a creative builder, maybe a student, intern, or early‑career developer who:

• enjoys playing around with no‑code / low‑code platforms ( , n8n, Zapier, Airtable)
• loves experimenting with AI tools and integrations
• wants to learn fast, test things, and see their work live with real users
• ideally is near Amsterdam (not required)

Think of it as wiring up the pipes: invoices/CSV → Airtable/Sheets → dashboards → PDF reports.

You will:

• Build intake workflows to collect data from Google Drive, Gmail, accounting exports, and survey forms
• Set up integrations (using or n8n) to automate data ingestion and cleaning
• Connect OCR tools when necessary (for scanned invoices)
• Organize & normalize data into Airtable/Sheets for analysis
• Implement emission calculations using provided factors to ensure accuracy
• Build client-facing dashboards (e.g. Retool, Softr, Airtable Interfaces) to visualize results
• Generate PDF reports that are audit- and investor-ready

About you:

• Have prior experience building AI agents, workflow automation with , n8n or similar tools

• Comfortable working with different data types (CSV, Excel, PDFs, APIs)

• Skilled with Airtable/Google Sheets for organizing and cleaning datasets

• Familiar with AI/LLMs, OCR, API integrations for automation (e.g. Azure OCR, Google Sheets, OpenAI)
• Excited about experimenting creative automations and able to set up dashboards (e.g. Retool, Softr, Airtable Interfaces)
• Act as a high‑trust owner of systems that may handle sensitive data or business‑critical logic

• You are a person with strong problem solving mindset; proven ability to technically design and present practical solutions to customer requests, including providing recommendations

• Ability to support your other team members in design ideation and creation progress

• You are fast, scrappy, outcome‑driven, you know how to deliver working MVPs

• Bonus: curious about sustainability / carbon reporting

• Learning by doing : build a real MVP from zero and showcase it in your portfolio
• Case-study credit : your work will be visible as CarbonSquare’s first live automation
• Equity option (0.25–1% with vesting) for long‑term contributors who want to grow with us. For interns or short‑term contributors, this may be non‑equity but still high impact and ambitious startup opportunity
• Direct collaboration with the founder, with the opportunity to shape a climate‑tech product from the ground up

This isn’t just an MVP gig. It’s the chance to be the person who built the first live system of a climate‑tech platform that will scale across Europe. We bouwen nu aan ons eerste MVP: geen kerncentrale, maar een simpel, werkend systeem waarmee we live kunnen gaan bij echte klanten.

We zoeken iemand die nieuwsgierig, praktisch en enthousiast is om met no‑code automatisering snelle prototypes te bouwen. Op dit moment hebben we geen full‑stack engineer met 20 jaar ervaring nodig, maar liever een creatieve bouwer — misschien een student, stagiair of early‑career developer die:

• graag experimenteert met no‑code / low‑code platforms ( , n8n, Zapier, Airtable)
• het leuk vindt om AI‑tools en integraties uit te proberen
• snel wil leren, testen en zijn/haar werk live bij echte gebruikers wil zien
• idealiter in (de buurt van) Amsterdam is gevestigd (niet verplicht)

Denk eraan als leidingen aanleggen: facturen/CSV’s → Airtable/Sheets → dashboards → PDF‑rapporten.

Het maakt ons niet uit of je student of starter bent, zolang je maar scrappy automatiseringen kunt bouwen en ons iets echts kunt laten zien.

Wat je gaat doen:

• Intake‑workflows bouwen om data te verzamelen uit Google Drive, Gmail, accounting exports en enquêtes
• Integraties opzetten ( of n8n) om data‑invoer en ‑opschoning te automatiseren
• OCR‑tools koppelen indien nodig (voor gescande facturen)
• Data organiseren & normaliseren in Airtable/Sheets voor analyse
• Emissieberekeningen implementeren met aangeleverde factoren
• Klantdashboards bouwen (bijv. Retool, Softr, Airtable Interfaces) om resultaten te visualiseren
• PDF‑rapporten genereren die geschikt zijn voor audits en investeerders

Over jou:

• Ervaring (of sterke interesse) in het bouwen van AI‑agents, workflow‑automatisering met , n8n of soortgelijke tools
• Comfortabel met verschillende datatypen (CSV, Excel, PDF’s, API’s)
• Vaardig met Airtable/Google Sheets voor het organiseren en opschonen van datasets
• Bekend met AI/LLM’s, OCR, API‑integraties voor automatisering (bijv. Azure OCR, Google Sheets, OpenAI)
• Enthousiast over creatieve automatiseringen en in staat dashboards op te zetten (bijv. Retool, Softr, Airtable Interfaces)
• Betrouwbaar met systemen die gevoelige data of kritieke bedrijfslogica bevatten
• Sterke probleemoplosser; je kunt praktische oplossingen ontwerpen en presenteren
• Bereid om teamleden te ondersteunen in design‑ en creatieprocessen
• Snel, pragmatisch en resultaatgericht — je weet hoe je werkende MVP’s oplevert
• Bonus: interesse in duurzaamheid / carbon reporting

• Learning by doing : bouw een echt MVP vanaf nul en gebruik het in je portfolio
• Case‑study credit : jouw werk wordt zichtbaar als het eerste live automatiseringssysteem van CarbonSquare
• Equity‑optie (0,25–1% met vesting) voor lange termijn teamleden die met ons willen meegroeien. Voor stagiairs of korte termijn bijdragers kan dit non‑equity zijn, maar nog steeds een kans binnen een ambitieuze startup
• Directe samenwerking met de founder en de mogelijkheid om vanaf de basis een klimaattech‑product vorm te geven
