Mainframe Solution Engineer

Role description

We are seeking a Senior Solution Engineer with strong mainframe expertise and advanced scripting skills to join a team that is leading the way in CI/CD automation for mission‑critical systems. You will work in a technically challenging environment where mainframe, distributed, and cloud technologies are closely integrated to support key banking processes

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions that enhance the mainframe development process in collaboration with multiple development squads.
• Translate development needs into automated solutions that align with architectural and security requirements.
• Set up and maintain the infrastructure for development tooling.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop, test, and improve automation scripts.
• Assess and maintain the quality of scripts, code, and configurations.
• Work with various departments and vendors to ensure alignment on infrastructure, security, and integration requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers within the team.

Requirements

• Mainframe experience is essential , including knowledge of z/OS, CICS, DB2, USS, RACF, and z/OS Connect.
• Strong scripting skills with technologies such as Python, Groovy, Bash, PERL, or Shell.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, GIT, Eclipse, or Urbancode.
• Experience in both mainframe and distributed environments , with a good understanding of how to integrate these technologies.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.
• Knowledge of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Archimate, or DYA is a plus , but not a core requirement.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, combined with a hands‑on approach.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch proficiency is an advantage).
