Business Controller
Role description
Broadview is an industrial holding company focused on long-term value creation through active ownership, operational excellence and disciplined capital allocation. Since its founding in 2008, Broadview has built an international portfolio of market-leading industrial businesses and has grown into a diversified group employing approximately 6,000 people worldwide. As part of HAL Investments, Broadview combines the financial strength and long-term horizon of a family-backed investor with an entrepreneurial and hands-on approach to building better businesses.
The group currently operates through two international platforms: Material Technology and Energy Solutions. Together, these businesses develop, manufacture and distribute innovative products and technologies for customers around the world. Alongside organic growth, Broadview pursues an active buy-and-build strategy, continuously expanding and strengthening its portfolio through strategic acquisitions and operational integration.
From its headquarters in 's-Hertogenbosch, a compact team of around 30 professionals supports the operating companies in creating sustainable competitive advantages. Broadview believes that long-term success comes from continuous improvement, collaboration and a deep understanding of the businesses it owns. Rather than managing from a distance, the holding company works closely with local management teams to improve performance, allocate capital effectively and unlock value across the portfolio.
The job profile
As Business Controller, you become part of a small, highly skilled Business Control team that plays a central role in connecting strategy, financial performance and operational execution across Broadview's international portfolio. Rather than functioning as a traditional holding controller, you work as a trusted business partner to the CFOs and management teams of several international operating companies.
From day one, you will be exposed to a wide variety of businesses, industries and strategic topics. One week you may be analysing operational performance at a manufacturing site in Germany, while the next you are supporting a due diligence process for a potential acquisition or developing benchmarking analyses across the international portfolio. The variety, ownership and proximity to senior decision-makers make this role an exceptional learning environment for finance professionals who want to broaden their perspective beyond traditional business control.
Key responsibilities
- Business partner for multiple international operating companies and their local CFOs.
- Coordinate the monthly reporting cycle, quarterly forecasts and annual budgeting process.
- Analyse financial and operational performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and business performance.
- Challenge management teams through data-driven analyses and strategic financial insights.
- Support investment decisions, business cases and capital allocation across the portfolio.
- Contribute to M&A activities, due diligence processes and post-merger integration projects.
- Perform cross-company benchmarking and identify commercial and operational improvement opportunities.
- Build strong relationships across the international organisation through frequent on-site collaboration with operating companies.
The ideal candidate
This position is ideally suited for an ambitious finance professional who combines strong analytical capabilities with genuine business curiosity. You enjoy understanding how businesses operate beyond the numbers and naturally challenge assumptions to identify opportunities for improvement.
You are comfortable operating in an international, intellectually demanding environment where ownership, independence and content quality are highly valued. Rather than looking for quick answers, you enjoy developing a thorough understanding of complex business situations and translating analyses into practical recommendations.
Broadview offers significant responsibility from day one. Success therefore requires maturity, intellectual curiosity and the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders across different cultures and businesses. You combine a hands-on mentality with a strategic mindset and thrive in an environment where continuous learning and long-term thinking are central.
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field.
- Approximately 3–8 years of experience in Business Control, FP&A, Transaction Services, Performance Management or Strategy Consulting.
- Experience in an international environment.
- Affinity with manufacturing, industrial or commercial businesses.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English and willing to travel internationally.
