Join our dynamic team in Utrecht as a Senior financial accountant and play a key role in ensuring the financial backbone and compliance of our business. In this position, you will proactively serve as a valued sparring partner to the CFO. You will take full responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing Dutch (consolidated) financial statements, and ensuring compliance with Dutch GAAP and regulatory requirements. You will also support audits, tax filings, and guide process improvements in cooperation with the admin team across our Group entities and the local accountants. This is a great opportunity for an accountant / financial who enjoys working in an international business environment and wants to contribute to the energy transition.
What You Will Be Doing
- Preparing (consolidated) financial statements for Dutch entities
- Preparing monthly and year-end closings, reviewing the balance sheet and P&L
- Proactive sparring partner of the CFO
- Guide to improve our internal processes and implement best practices
- Independently managing the bookkeeping process
- Managing accounts payable and receivable in cooperation with admin
- Preparing and assisting with audits and tax filings (VAT, CIT)
- Reconciling intercompany and other balances
- Supporting our international offices and groups
We are on the lookout for a new giraffe with a healthy dose of curiosity and proactiveness and who will ensure our bookkeeping is always in great order!
You:
- Have at least 5 years of experience in an SME accountancy firm, and can independently prepare annual accounts in accordance with Dutch GAAP
- Have extensive knowledge and understanding of accounting and financial compliance
- Are highly organised, process improvement driven and have the required know-how to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
- Have a proactive mindset, enjoy working in a team and is a self-starter
- Are a flexible and resourceful multi-tasker, with a good sense of humour!

About The International Finance And Control Team
You will be part of our finance and control team. While your focus will be on our Dutch Group entities, there will be opportunities to collaborate with and travel to other Green Giraffe offices globally.
