Primary Care Paramedic – Patient Transfer Unit

Location: Grand Falls, NB

Bargaining Unit: NB Union – Specialized Health Care Professionals

Status: Part‑time Permanent

Hours of Work: Rotating days, weekends and statutory holidays. Subject to change due to operational requirements.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: As per collective agreement

Language Requirement: Written and spoken competency in English and French.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Primary Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) and registration requirements, as well as Ambulance NB policies, procedures and protocols.

Our paramedics provide medical support to patients on scene and en route to hospitals, employing emergency techniques and medical treatments applicable to unpredictable clinical presentations.

Selected candidates will undergo a standardized selection process that includes a comprehensive assessment to determine qualification level.

Required Qualifications

• Entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or work permit).
• Demonstrate efficient teamwork, ability to work all shifts as assigned, good attendance record.
• High regard for confidentiality and patient safety.
• Primary Care Paramedic program/course of over six months. If not completed, interest in program with list of Atlantic Canada paramedic programs available on the website.
• Registered, active Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick. If not currently registered, visit
• Valid New Brunswick Class 4 driver’s licence (or equivalent).

Additional Requirements for Application

• Current resume and cover letter.
• Copy of PCP diploma from an accredited institution.
• Proof of current registration with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.
• Proof of completion of a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) specific to paramedic work within the last 12 months.
• Proof of valid CPR Level C certification issued within the last 12 months.
• Photocopy of front and back of valid Class 4 driver’s licence (or equivalent) with minimum one year driving experience.
• Driver's abstract issued within the last 30 days.
• Copy of any valid driver’s course certificate (CEVO, VFIS, NS VSP or equivalent) issued within the last three years.
• Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check issued within the last 30 days.
• Immunization record: Tetanus Tdap within last 10 years, two MMR vaccines or lab‑evidenced immunity, two varicella vaccines or lab‑evidenced immunity, three Hepatitis B doses and lab‑evidenced immunity, TB skin test (2 step) and 1‑step in last 12 months; if reactive, follow‑up chest X‑ray.
• Valid official language assessments (oral only) in both French and English from the Department of Post‑secondary Education, Training and Labour.
