Ongoing Hospitalist Coverage Flexible 24-Hour & 12-Hour Shifts Zero Clinic Work

Are you a Board Certified or Board Eligible OB/GYN Physician looking for a streamlined, inpatient-focused locum tenens opportunity in northern New Jersey? Clara Maass Medical Center, an affiliate of RWJBarnabas Health, is seeking an experienced OB/GYN Hospitalist to provide ongoing Labor & Delivery coverage. Offering in-house hospitalist shifts, a manageable delivery volume, zero outpatient clinic duties, and a supportive clinical team, this role provides excellent scheduling flexibility through the end of 2026.

Step into an established inpatient maternal health service, working alongside skilled Labor & Delivery nursing staff and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs).

• Clinical Scope: Provide dedicated, in-house obstetrical hospitalist coverage. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Labor & Delivery floor management and OB triage evaluations

  • Attending vaginal deliveries and performing Cesarean sections

  • Conducting D&C procedures and urgent gynecological emergency management

  • Unassigned patient management and primary physician coverage for L&D

• The Schedule: Flexible scheduling options featuring a blend of shift lengths:

  • 24-Hour Shifts: 8:00 AM 8:00 AM (in-house / restricted call)

  • 12-Hour Day Shifts: 8:00 AM 8:00 PM

  • No outpatient clinic duties or private office call obligations.

• Volume & Environment: Paced, community hospital environment averaging 3 to 7 deliveries per day alongside routine OB triage.

• Team & Technology: Practice independently as the attending physician on L&D with collaborative CNM support on site. Charting and orders are managed through Epic EMR.

• Board Status: Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

• Licensure: Active, unencumbered New Jersey State Medical License preferred.

• Clinical Readiness: Full comfort independently managing inpatient L&D floors, emergency OB consults, surgical C-sections, and acute floor procedures.
