Field Service Engineer
Role description
As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll help customers keep food production running safely, reliably, and efficiently. At Bakon, a Coperion brand – part of Hillenbrand, based in Goes, Netherlands, you’ll support long‑term machine performance and strong customer partnerships across Europe.
Location: Goes, Netherlands. Travel: Up to 50%, mainly within Europe. A service vehicle is provided.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements to prepare service work in the workshop.
- Support assembly and repairs within the small team in Goes.
- Install, assemble, and modify bakery and food processing equipment at customer sites.
- Commission machines and production lines by setting up mechanical, electrical, and software functions, verifying performance, and resolving issues affecting start‑up and qualification.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs using a structured troubleshooting approach.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance with clear documentation.
- Coordinate closely with customers, project managers, and technical support teams.
- Support customer training and final handover with professionalism and sound judgment.
Team and Environment
You are hierarchically attached to the manager of the field and service teams. You’ll work in a small team where autonomy, accountability, and clear communication matter every day. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues and customers across different backgrounds, experiences, and locations, and your field insight will help strengthen Bakon’s performance and contribute to Hillenbrand’s broader success.
Qualifications
- Vocational education at MBO+ level in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field supporting industrial equipment installation, commissioning, and service work.
- Hands‑on experience in preventive maintenance, equipment installation, commissioning, or field service for industrial machinery.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or software‑related issues and carry out start‑up, qualification, maintenance, repair, or calibration activities with a strong focus on accuracy, safety, and effective decision‑making in customer‑facing environments.
- Fluency in Dutch and English (both essential for daily work).
- Competencies to work independently, manage priorities within a small team, and represent the company professionally at customer sites.
- Willingness to travel frequently (up to 50% of the time), mainly within Europe, and adapt to changing site conditions, schedules, and service needs.
- Continuous improvement mindset and strong problem‑solving skills.
