Role description
About the Role
As a Test Engineer for the Google Connector team, you will design, build, and execute automated and manual testing strategies for our enterprise integration pipelines with Google services. You will validate high-throughput data synchronization, API contract stability, and authentication flows across products such as Google Workspace, BigQuery, and Google Drive. Your work directly impacts data fidelity, system reliability, and platform performance for organizations that rely on our Google integrations for mission-critical workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain end-to-end automated test suites for data ingestion and synchronization pipelines integrating with Google APIs.
- Validate OAuth 2.0 authentication flows, token lifecycle management, and permission scopes across various Google enterprise services.
- Execute performance, load, and rate-limiting tests to ensure connector resilience under high-concurrency and large-dataset scenarios.
- Create, isolate, and maintain realistic test data sets and mock Google API environments to support reliable CI/CD test execution.
- Investigate, log, and triage edge-case defects such as schema drift, network interruptions, and upstream API deprecations.
- Partner with software engineers and product managers to define test criteria and acceptance metrics during feature design phases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Three or more years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test automation for API-driven systems.
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in writing automated tests using languages such as Python, Java, or TypeScript.
- Deep technical understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP status codes, webhooks, and authentication mechanisms including OAuth 2.0.
- Proven experience testing cloud-based ETL pipelines, data streaming architectures, or third-party connector platforms.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD integration using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience developing or testing against Google Cloud Platform APIs such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, or Workspace APIs.
- Experience utilizing API virtualization and mocking frameworks such as WireMock or Prism.
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Prior experience with performance testing frameworks such as k6, JMeter, or Locust.
- Understanding of data governance, security compliance standards, and credential management best practices.
